What would you do if you knew that you only had one month to live?
Would you take that trip of a life time? Would you spend every moment with your family close to you? Would you cry for a month because you lived your entire life without ever really living?
Communities across the nation have begun to take up this challenge.
What would you do if you only had one month to live? While pastors and preachers of all denominations have asked this or similar questions over the years; churches in this area and individuals across the country are taking this challenge in 2010. We are using the book by Kerry and Chris Shook as a common daily devotional, or perhaps more accurately, as a common daily provocation. Reading a chapter a day, we will ask ourselves some challenging, perhaps life-changing questions.
Perhaps you have read the book or never intend to read it, but you love the provocation: What would I do if I had only one month to live? People who know the certainty of their death often become liberated. They say what they believe, forgive those people they held a grudge against for decades and realize the freedom that accompanies forgiveness, they do things with loved that they said they would do someday, and so much more. Sadly, many who become liberated in these last days are bed-ridden and can't do all that they feel liberated to do.
As we all know that someday these bodies will quit working and we face our mortality; why not live fully liberated now? What not do what is truly important now? Why not live the abundant life that Jesus promised us now?
That is the nature of this exploration. Make no mistake, this is not a class, seminar, or workshop. It is an exploration.
If you can find a church or local group in your area participating, that is perhaps the best way to explore. If you choose to participate via this online challenge, please leave comments about your discoveries so that they may be shared among others in this challenge--even though your participation may be separated by months.
